HOW I EXCELLED IN EXCEL

I would like to share a personal experience of how excel has helped me in my personal life.


I send out Christmas cards every year and I was always worried not to miss out any names and addresses .



When I learnt about Excel I started formulating my data in a tabular form making sure no names were missed out.



Also now in order to save time I can do a quick search and retrieve names and addresses alphabetically.



Using simple key functions like sort and filter help managing my data effectively.


So now all I have to do is refer to my excel worksheet and I am rest assured that all my friends and family receive their greetings in time without fail.




KEYBOARD SHORT CUT KEYS

There are various keyboard short cut keys, to list a few:


When more than 1 window is open, switching between windows : CTRL+F6


Switch to the next window : ALT+TAB


Copying a picture to the clipboard : PRINT SCREEN.

HOW TO MAKE A TABLE IN EXCEL

Ms Excel is a great application to help convert data into tabular interpretations, thus simplifying
work and making it easier to view and understand.
There are 2 ways of making a table in an Excel worksheet.


  •  You can select the range of cells you need to incorporate in the table and click on the insert option and chose the default table style.
          You can also press CTRL+L or CTRL+T (keyboard shortcut)
                     
          OR
  •  you can accomodate your content as a table in a style that you wish by personalising it.

USAGE OF EXCEL - Work and Personal.


Excel is the most preferred application for everyday problem solving.

It can be used at work for presentations, tabulations, calculating your debt,
income,assets etc.


It can also be of personal use for eg . calculating the cost of a trip by car,
budgeting your monthly expenses, keeping a record of your childs academics etc.

FUNCTION OF MICROSOFT EXCEL

Excel has various purposes including calculation, presentations, analysis etc.
Excel can be used to solve math problems of simple and complex nature.
In order to simplify and speed the process formulas can be used.
Using excel presentations can be made in the form of charts, tables, graphs etc

INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY OF EXCEL


Excel is a commercial spreadsheet application by Microsoft for microsoft windows
and MAC OS X.
It is one of the most important and widely used softwares .


It is an essential tool for managers and staff in different fields like portfolio management, training, sales and marketing , research and development, accountancy etc.


It was launched by microsoft in 1987 as a spreadsheet application.
It was further enhanced in 1993 adding visual basic for application .
In 2006, microsoft released Excel 2007which was microsofts best and most user friendly version of excel.
